This site serves as an accurate source of news and information regarding progress at the Lake Success Eco Business Park, located in Bridgeport and Stratford, Connecticut. This 422-acre former manufacturing site is on the verge of restoration and transformation.

Objectives

Under the guidance of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CTDEEP), the current site owner, Sporting Goods Properties, Inc. (SGP), a subsidiary of Corteva Agriscience, is investing significant resources to ensure that the site remedy and restoration efforts achieve these key objectives:

  • To implement a site remediation program that remains protective of people and the environment
  • To comply with all laws and regulations
  • To ensure that site remediation activities facilitate the restoration and reuse of portions of the property
  • To position the property as an asset to the local community and region

Current Status

The remediation of Lake Success and soils on the property is substantially complete and was performed in accordance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) under the guidance of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CTDEEP).  Activities included the removal of unexploded ordnance and materials related to the past manufacture and testing of large and small caliber munitions. SGP continues to monitor groundwater on the property and is working cooperatively with the regulatory agencies to complete the remaining activities under the remediation program.
